The name chosen for the first building is "The Bedman". The Bedmans were a pioneering family that settled in the Alexandria area in the 1880's and were very involved in creating the community and village mentality and feeling of our lakes area. James Bedman ran the blacksmith shop - shoeing of government horses at the Fort and those in the stage coach route. His wife, Elizabeth, and son, Charles, homesteaded on Lake Ida, starting Bedman's Beach Resort. Charles was a teacher as well.
The dedication to community involvement and growth is exactly what ORB Management is hoping to accomplish with this and all of its future projects.
As the Hawthorne Village project grows, additional buildings names will include the Van Dyke and the The Minnie Currie.
